What is Tamiflu?
Tamiflu is an antiviral medicine that used to treat the influenza virus. It is the first orally active neuraminidase inhibitor. The capsules are grey-yellow color, 75 mg each. The action of Tamiflu is to kills the virus source and to stop the virus reproduction and spreading in the body. It may be given as a preventive measure during a community outbreak or following contact with infected person. The standard dosage is 2 pills daily. Tamiflu gives maximum results within first 48 hours of flu symptoms.
Who should consider taking Tamiflu?
Tamiflu is approved to treat the flu in adults and children over 12 month. Also Tamiflu is used as preventive measure against flu. Tamiflu is proved, clinically tested and well know medicine. Typically the flu symptoms are cough, muscle pain, fever, chills and fatigue that appears usually at the same time. Don’t confuse common cold and flu. Ask your doctor or med care service to figure out your condition. Tamiflu is a medicine for very large group people, there are only some exceptions for minority of people whom it is not recommended. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to oseltamivir phosphate or if you have any kidney problem. Mostly Tamiflu does not cause any side effects or they are mild. Can I take other medications with Tamiflu?
Tamiflu is well tolerated medicine with minimum side effects. It may be prescribed with antibiotics and other medicines at the same time. Inform your doctor if you use another drugs. Tamiflu kills the influenza virus; another medicine may be used to reduce fever, muscle aches, headache or other flu symptoms at the same time.
How and when should I take Tamiflu?
The standard course takes 5 days – 2 tablets of Tamiflu per day. It is recommended to use Tamiflu at the same time each day, in the morning and evening. Take Tamiflu with food (juice or milk) if experience stomach pain. Complete the treatment course of 10 tablets; don’t stop taking Tamiflu, check with your doctor. Sooner you begin the course, faster you recover from flu. The dosage for children should be set by pediatrician. Follow your health care provider’s guidance, read the medication label before using.
